FADE IN
EXT. RANDOM LANDSCAPE– DAY (BACKGROUND MUSIC: SAVAGE GARDEN- TRULY MADLY DEEPLY) The sun sets. The clouds are moving slowly, covering big parts of the sky. CHRISTIE V.O. Dear diary, I don’t know what to say. I mean, I’ve never had a diary. But now, it’s different. The sky is getting darker. The darkness starts to cover the plains. The wind blows. CHRISTIE V.O. When I say “different”, I don’t mean something good. I don’t mean something bad either, but… It doesn’t matter. So this is my story… Camera moves on the highway. A car passes the highway. The car is driven by WAYNE THOMPSON, a bald middle-aged man. Beside him stays BELINDA RAITT, his fiancée; she’s a beautiful middle-aged woman, with dark blonde hair. On the back seat stays CHRISTINNE RAITT, Belinda’s daughter, a brunette teenager, with green eyes and thin eyebrows. She writes something in a notebook. CHRISTIE V.O. It all begins when me and my family moved in Melbourne, Australia, in the summer holiday. A shot of Melbourne appears on the screen. It disappears after some seconds. The camera moves on Christie’s face. CHRISTIE V.O. Before this, we lived in London. At that time, mom was married with Johnattan Raitt, my real father. A greyscale flashback scene with London; on the screen appear three happy people who play in a random park. They move in slow-motion. CHRISTIE V.O. But when I was ten, they divorced. Mom met another man, Wayne Thompson and they lived together some years and finally, they decided to marry. Camera focuses on Belinda’s face. She smiles. CHRISTIE V.O. Now they’re engaged. They will marry after some months. Honestly, I don’t really like Wayne, but I try to accept him. For mom, of course. Camera moves on Christie’s diary. She closes it and she sigh. WAYNE (singing along with the back music) I want to stand with you on a mountain. I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me... BELINDA (laughing) Yeah, this is still funny… WAYNE What, you don’t like it? BELINDA Pay attention to the road, honey. CHRISTIE Mom, are we close to Melbourne? BELINDA I’m not sure. I think we are. Why you’re asking? Are you eager? CHRISTIE A little… WAYNE Don’t worry, Christie! We’ll arrive soon. CHRISTIE I hope so… Camera moves on the horizon. The horizon line is brighter than the sky. Some stars appear on the sky. CHRISTIE V.O. This is how my story begins. It looks like a trivial story, but it’s not. Because is my story, and my story is not trivial. You’ll see why. The background music fade out.
